Unlike wild mushrooms, white button mushrooms are available all year round, and their price won't leave you in shock. They are delicious, easy to prepare, and versatile. Fans of porcini and bay bolete might look down on them because they lack the rich aroma of wild mushrooms. However, this can be transformed by frying them with an unusual addition.
How to fry mushrooms
Mushrooms, often milder in flavour, greatly improve when prepared correctly. The secret to success lies in correctly adjusting the pan's temperature. A heated pan with oil or butter ensures that the mushrooms don't become soggy. However, this doesn't mean mushrooms can't be prepared without added fat. Frying them on high heat is crucial to maintain a golden colour and crispness.
The best recipe for pan-fried mushrooms
This simple recipe will enable you to enjoy the taste of forest mushrooms, even if wild varieties are unavailable. Thanks to the right additions, mushrooms cooked without added fat will surprise you with their flavour. Mushrooms act like sponges, absorbing aroma and flavour, which this recipe cleverly exploits. It's best to select small specimens here. Both white and brown mushrooms are suitable.
Adding soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup will win over even the most sceptical mushroom eater. Balsamic mushrooms are perfect for various occasions.
