"The Boys" presents an alternative reality where, among ordinary people, individuals are endowed with supernatural powers. Someone is invisible, someone as fast as lightning, and another person can fly. Nothing new, one might say. Except, each member of The Seven, a group that includes the world's most powerful superheroes, is corrupt to the core.
As popular as celebrities and athletes, they look splendid in front of cameras and on large billboards. Their leader is called Homelander. When you have the power of a god, falling into psychopathic megalomania is easy. Superman managed to avoid this fate. Homelander, unfortunately, is heading straight into the midst of madness.
Luckily, on the opposite side of The Seven, there are the titular "Boys". They share one goal: to destroy the superheroes. Reveal their true faces, take off their masks, and show the world all the crimes they've committed. The Boys do not hold back. Acting on the edge of the law, they will stop at nothing to show The Seven where they can stick their divine aspirations. Can an ordinary person defeat an immortal? The Boys will certainly try until their last breath.
"The Boys" is a politically incorrect story filled with black humour, violence, and sex. However, it's not just empty entertainment. "The Boys" is a sharp satire of a society consumed by consumption and commerce. It's also a parody of the superhero genre and a successful attempt to challenge the "polite" Marvel productions.
The first three episodes of the fourth "The Boys" season will appear on Amazon Prime Video on June 13. The remaining five will premiere at weekly intervals. The last episode is scheduled for July 18.
