The AFP agency has reported on a tense situation at the Iranian consulate in Paris. An individual carrying explosive devices entered the building and issued a threat to detonate them. He was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement.

BFM TV has stated that the man was taken into custody at approximately 13:45 GMT and is currently under interrogation. Authorities thoroughly examine the consulate's premises and vicinity to ensure no threats remain. It has been revealed that the man's motive was to seek retribution for his brother's death in Iran.

The intervention by the services was spurred by a report from a witness who observed the suspect transporting explosive materials into the Iranian consulate in Paris, according to a police statement.

In a contrasting account from sources within the Iranian consulate in Paris, as reported by "Le Point", it was stated that the individual was unarmed and appeared to be struggling with mental health issues. After conversing with staff members, who provided him with cake and water, he voluntarily exited the building. The police then arrested him upon his departure.

Authorities are also examining the vehicle the detainee used to arrive at the consulate, marking the start of the incident at around 10:00 GMT.
