Sydney Sweeney hits back at "disgraceful" criticism from "Euphoria" producer

Following surprising criticism from the producer of "Euphoria," Sydney Sweeney issued a statement in which she referred to Carol Baum's words as "disgraceful." The actress finds it baffling how someone who is also a university lecturer could make such remarks.

On 11th April, the "New York Times" conducted a detailed interview with Carol Baum, discussing her cinematic achievements. Naturally, a question arose about the series Euphoria, which has garnered awards and significant popularity on HBO and Max. The journalist highlighted that the series' stars (Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney) are currently enjoying substantial success in Hollywood.

Unexpectedly, Baum expressed her inability to grasp the phenomenon surrounding Sydney Sweeney. "I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her. I even asked my students to help me see what people find appealing in this girl. I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?" remarked the producer, who also serves as a professor at the University of Southern California.

In a statement emailed to "USA Today," Sweeney's representative strongly condemned Baum's comments. "How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman," we learn.

"If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character." – the representative for the actress summarized.

Sydney Sweeney, who bravely embraces acting challenges and seems to select daring roles for herself deliberately, recently appeared in the adult comedy "Anyone but You" and in the horror movie "Immaculate."
