Sweden considers troop deployment to uphold future peace
Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard did not rule out on Monday the possibility of deploying Swedish troops to Ukraine after negotiating peace with Russia.
"First, we must negotiate a just and lasting peace that respects international law and Ukraine," Malmer Stenergard emphasised in an interview with Swedish Radio.
According to the Swedish Foreign Minister, "when such peace prevails, it will be necessary to ensure its maintenance. We must be certain that the Russians will not attack Ukraine or another country again in the foreseeable future," she noted.
On Sunday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the United Kingdom is ready to send troops to Ukraine to enforce the peace terms.
