We wait for them all year round. After all, they are delicious and renowned for their numerous health benefits. Strawberries make a fantastic addition to various dishes, enjoyed by both the young and old in the family. However, knowing who should steer clear of them is crucial before we indulge. Surprisingly, the list is quite extensive.

Allergies versus strawberries

Some can't imagine summer without strawberries. After all, this trendy fruit is available almost everywhere in Poland during its season. Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy them.

Those who are especially allergic to histamine should be cautious. Strawberries can trigger allergic reactions such as diarrhea, hives, and itchy skin. In some instances, affected individuals may also experience inflammation.

Strawberries should also be excluded from the diet of people allergic to salicylates. Unfortunately, after consuming these fruits, they may suffer from persistent coughing and breathlessness.

If you're taking these medications, watch out for strawberries

A strawberry is a superb source of vitamin C, fiber, and folic acid, among other things. This fruit is also high in potassium, which can significantly impact our health when taking specific medications.

It is essential to know that this is related to beta-blockers, which are intended to increase its level in the blood. Unfortunately, excess potassium can lead to hyperkalemia, which could even result in cardiac arrest.

Strawberries should also be avoided when taking anticoagulant medications. This combination can affect blood clotting, which can be very dangerous.
