Robert Fico, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, was shot following a government retreat in the town of Handlova. Authorities have detained the attacker. Here, we present the initial footage from the scene of the incident.

The shooting occurred after a Slovak government session held in Handlova, situated in the country's central region.

As reported by the Slovak outlet Pravda, Witnesses describe how Fico was approaching to greet supporters in a crowd of approximately 50 people when an individual near the Prime Minister yelled, "Robo, come here." Suddenly, four to five shots rang out.

The Prime Minister was seen collapsing before guards quickly transported him to the hospital. The assailant was apprehended without delay.

Reports from Slovak media indicate that up to five bullets may have struck Fico. A statement from the Slovak government noted the Prime Minister's condition as life-threatening, leading to his immediate airlift to a hospital in Banská Bystrica.

Enclosed are photographs capturing the arrest of the assailant.
