The bodies of Nadav Popplewell, Yaakov Buchstaw, Yoram Matzger, Chaim Peri, Avraham Munder, and Alex Dancyg were retrieved, as stated in the post.

Alex Dancyg, born in Warsaw in 1948 to a family of Holocaust survivors, held both Polish and Israeli citizenship. In 1957, he emigrated to Israel with his parents. There, he joined the kibbutz movement, served in the army, and later completed his studies in history. Since 1990, he has worked at the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, dedicated to Holocaust remembrance and education.

"Kibbutz Nir Oz announces with great sadness the murder of the late Avraham Munder, 79, in captivity in Gaza after suffering physical and mental torture for months," stated the kibbutz from which Munder, Dancyg, Peri, and Matzger were abducted. The others were abducted from Kibbutz Nirim.

At the beginning of August, the Israeli military assessed that as time passed, the likelihood of obtaining intelligence information about the hostages would increase. However, simultaneously, the chances of the abducted individuals surviving would decrease.

During the Hamas terrorist attack on southern Israel, nearly 1,200 people were killed and 251 were abducted. At Kibbutz Nir Oz, a massacre occurred in which many residents lost their lives or were abducted.
