An intensely green and dense lawn is the foundation of a beautifully looking garden. After all, grass with dry patches does not look attractive and can make the space around the house appear neglected. So, how should you always care for your lawn to look perfect? Gardener Monty Don shared his tips and proven tricks with The Sun.
How to take care of your lawn?
It turns out that September, which is a transitional month between summer and autumn, is the best time to get your lawn in order. How to get started? Of course, the biggest problem is the gaps in the green carpet.
"If it is just a worn area of thin grass, rake away all thatch and moss and remove all weeds and thinly scatter grass seed, watering well and keeping it damp. The seed should germinate and grow in days," the expert advises.
He also added that you should avoid walking on the grass and mowing it for the next month. You need to wait for it to grow intensively. Then, you can be sure that the grass has rooted well and established itself.
The gardener's trick, namely aerating the lawn
Monty Don also shared a trick that will make the lawn look spectacular next spring: aerating it. To do it, simply take a rake and poke it into the ground at intervals of approximately 30 centimetres. The specialist added in The Sun that it's best to massage sand into the resulting holes with a stiff brush.
