Seagal's new role: Perform at Russian events for £165,000
For 20 million rubles (approximately £165,000), Russians can hire Steven Seagal for a company event. The former action movie star has held Russian citizenship since 2016 and is an ardent admirer of Vladimir Putin.
Seagal, aged 72, is a former actor, screenwriter, and film producer. In the past, he enjoyed a successful Hollywood career and, like Jean-Claude Van Damme or Arnold Schwarzenegger, was an icon of action films. Born in Michigan, Seagal now professes that he is Russian and considers Russia his home.
In his new home, where he moved a decade ago, he earns a living by performing at corporate events. "The client must provide the star with airfare, local transport, accommodation and meals, security, as well as sound and lighting during the event," according to Belsat.
The service cites the "Baza" channel on Telegram, where more details about events featuring the star of the film "Marked for Death" were shared.
An hour with Seagal
It turns out Seagal's performance must remain confidential. No materials from the event are allowed to be published, though attendees may take photographs of the actor with small cameras. The performance itself lasts 50 minutes. At the star's special request, he may deliver two previously prepared speeches.
Once Seagal is hired, the event cannot be cancelled. Only illness or other incapacitation of the former actor may lead to rescheduling the event. A refund is possible only in the event of Seagal's death or that of a family member, emphasises Belsat.
