Sandra Bullock hints at comeback despite acting hiatus
The adventure romantic comedy "The Lost City" was promoted as Sandra Bullock's farewell film. This wasn't just a marketing ploy. The actress hasn't appeared in any films since March 2022. However, audiences miss her, which is evident from the film's popularity.
During the promotional conference for "The Lost City," Sandra Bullock expressed her decision to pause her acting career and retreat from public life. "I’m going to take some time off to be a mother to Louis and Laila. I’ll get back to it. I don’t know when. Probably when they’re teenagers, 16- or 17-years old," said the 57-year-old Hollywood star at the time.
The actress has two adopted children who are still a few years away from adulthood. Her son Louis is 14 years old, while her daughter Laila is 12 years old. Nevertheless, it appears that Bullock might not remain on "maternity leave" for several more years. Preparations are ongoing for the production of "Practical Magic 2," set to feature both stars from the 1998 original – Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock.
Meanwhile, viewers of the Max movie service can watch "The Lost City."
"The Lost City" is compared to the famous '80s hit "Romancing the Stone." There are many similarities. A famous romance novelist lives in a world of her fantasies, writing extensively about love and adventures, yet her life is devoid of greater emotions and feelings. The situation changes when she is kidnapped along with the cover model of her books (Channing Tatum returns to Hollywood in this role).
The adventure film was very popular in cinemas. In the challenging post-pandemic period for movies, it grossed nearly £160 million at the box office. "Very enjoyable entertainment cinema," wrote critics about the film.
