Russia takes rigorous action against debtors. The penalty includes a ban on leaving the country.

Data from the Federal Bailiff Service reveals a stark 41.3% increase in decisions made in 2023, marking the highest increase in the past three years.

In the past year, as many as 10 million citizens were affected by this ban.

By the start of 2024, bailiffs handed over 6.5 million orders to border guards; these prohibited debtors, including those owing alimony, from travelling abroad as indicated by the quoted newspaper "RBK".

Rzeczpospolita- one of the biggest Polish press, writes, "In Russia, several enforcement proceedings can be initiated against a single citizen. The bailiff in these enforcements can apply a range of restrictive measures - from seizing bank accounts and assets to implementing a ban on exiting Russia."

The strategy appears to be working. The proportion of debt repayments made to lift the ban is increasing, as reported in the media.
