Russia's drone assault on Ukraine thwarted by air defenses

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, Russia launched another attack on Ukraine. Kyiv's air defence successfully shot down 28 out of 74 assault drones deployed by the Russian military. An additional 46 drones lost communication due to effective electronic warfare measures.

"The enemy attacked with 74 Shahed strike drones and other types of drones (launch areas: Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Federation)," reads a statement from the Ukrainian Air Force.

"Air defence missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile shooting groups of the Air Force and Defence Forces of Ukraine shot down 28 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. An additional 46 drones lost communication," added the Ukrainian services statement.

According to information provided by the Ukrainian Air Force, debris from a downed drone damaged homes and private property in the town of Kamianske in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Assistance is being provided to the affected individuals.
