Russians advance on key Ukrainian town, encircling tightens
Russians have captured the village of Nieskuchne in the Donetsk region, moving closer to encircling the key Ukrainian town of Velyka Novosilka, according to analysts from the DeepState project.
The Russians have taken the village of Nieskuchne, southwest of the town of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region, reports DeepState. They have also advanced in the nearby Vremivka.
Velyka Novosilka has been one of the main targets for the Russians since the autumn of 2024. Nieskuchne is the second-to-last village on the aggressors' path. A small village, Vremivka, still separates them from Novosilka. Heavy fighting is ongoing there.
To the north of Novosilka, the Russians have taken control of areas west and south of the village of Novy Komar.
This tightens the ring around the Ukrainian positions. According to Ukrainian media, the distance between the extreme points of the encirclement is approximately 6 kilometres.
