Russia rejects participation in Swiss peace summit follow-up
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Russia would not participate in any continuation of the peace summit organized in Switzerland in June. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had not ruled out Moscow's earlier participation in the talks.
Zakharova, whose statement was published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website, declared that "representatives of Russia did not participate and will not participate in any meetings of the so-called Buergenstock process."
In June, a summit for peaceful resolution took place in Buergenstock, Switzerland. More than 90 countries participated, and over 70 signed a joint communiqué. Russia was not invited to this meeting. Zelensky informed of his intention to organize another meeting in November, potentially with Russia's participation.
Russia will not participate in the talks
Zakharova stated that this format "has nothing to do with settlement," describing it as "a scam by the Anglo-Saxons and their puppet Zelensky " and their "Ukrainian puppets," criticising the peace formula promoted by Kyiv.
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman asserted that Russia is ready for talks, taking into account the situation "on the ground" and "geopolitical realities." According to Ukraine and its Western supporters, Russia's conditions for "settlement" so far are tantamount to Kyiv's capitulation.
