Reynolds and Jackman reunite for 'boy band' comedy project
Stars of the blockbuster "Deadpool & Wolverine," and privately good friends Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are set to collaborate again with director Shawn Levy. We've learned the details of a unique comedy.
Ryan Reynolds is sure to count 2024 as a successful year. His film Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed over a billion dollars in cinemas worldwide, his football team, Wrexham, has been promoted to a higher league, and by the end of the year, The Hollywood Reporter named him Producer of the Year. During an interview while receiving this award, Reynolds shared some details about his professional plans.
Jackman and Reynolds join forces again
Although he emphasised that "he has some ideas regarding the MCU," "none of them focuses on Deadpool." He revealed more about his other project - "Boy Band," a film he's been trying to make for several years. In it, Reynolds would star alongside Jackman, and the duo would play former child stars who reunite as men in their middle age.
Reynolds told the publication he's currently revising and polishing the script: "The first draft was incredible and written by one of my favourite writers, Jesse Andrews [Me and Earl and the Dying Girl]. Now I'm on my lonesome."
And although Reynolds, who plans to also produce the film with director Shawn Levy, doesn't have a set start date for filming yet, he already has a clear idea for the plot of "Boy Band":
- Shawn, Hugh and I are open to creative ways to make this movie at an absolute bargain. These kids achieved incredible fame with no blueprint at all. They experienced levels of fame that would be very difficult for anyone to navigate, let alone an adolescent, when you are farming out your self-worth to an audience of screaming people. It creates a kind of arrested cultural development. They’re forever associated with that period of time in their lives. This would be about people in their 40s and 50s trying to get their lives back. I think there is something beautiful about that - Reynolds stated.
Although Reynolds has never participated in a musical, fortunately, his clawed buddy has shown off his diaphragm several times. Jackman was a star of "Les Misérables" and "The Greatest Showman," so he'd find himself at the very least... singing in the role of a former boy band star.
