Revolutionizing Music Videos: How AI is Shaping the Industry's Future

Not long ago, the novelty of watching music videos shot with smartphones was real. Now, we've entered the era of music videos made without traditional recording equipment.

In February of this year, OpenAI, known for the ChatGPT project, introduced a new tool capable of creating realistic film sequences through text. While Sora isn't widely available yet, it has been accessible to a select group of filmmakers during its testing phase. Today, we can admire their work.

What was it like working on the music video using AI?

Director Paul Trillo was among those who had the chance to work with OpenAI. Using artificial intelligence, he created a video for the song "The Hardest Part" by the American artist Washed Out.

The work on the music video did not involve not just actors but also cinematographers or lighting technicians. Moreover, there wasn't even a physical set. Each scene was crafted by entering detailed descriptions into the Sora system.

Paul Trillo chose a distinctive artistic approach to lessen the apparent use of artificial intelligence. A blend of retro style with highly dynamic, almost chaotic camera movements skilfully masked the technology's limitations. Despite this, the outcome is undeniably impressive.

In a March interview with the Wall Street Journal, Mira Murati, Chief Technology Officer at OpenAI, confirmed that Sora would be publicly available later this year.
