Reviving wilting indoor palm trees: The secret power of banana peel fertilizers

Palm trees are an incredibly appealing and popular feature in home decoration. These plants fit in many interiors and significantly, also have a positive effect on our health. Indoor palm trees contribute to the purification of air within rooms. If you are beginning your journey with these plants, choosing less demanding species might be a good idea. Good examples of such species would be Parlor palms, Areca palms, or Chusan palms. But what happens if your palm tree starts to decline right before your eyes? Bear in mind that even though these plants are relatively easy to grow, one should not overlook their regular care. Fortunately, a wilting palm tree can be easily revived. All you need to do is add one secretive ingredient to the water!

Why might your indoor palm tree be wilting?

Regrettably, the drying of leaves in indoor palm trees is quite a frequent occurrence, especially in the lower part of the plant. This is how palm trees naturally shed old foliage. Often, at the site of the dry leaves, a palm trunk forms. However, sometimes, these plants dry out due to a lack of appropriate care or other negligence. The quality of soil and adequate fertilization play crucial roles in indoor palm cultivation. It's significant to remember that palm trees are not favorable to high indoor dryness and can't endure drafts. Additionally, these plants shouldn't be moved around too frequently or over-watered. Position palm trees in spots with exposure to sunlight. Unfortunately, sometimes the cause for wilting might be various diseases or parasites attacking the plant.

Create a homemade fertiliser for your palm

It's important to provide palm trees with the necessary nutrients. As a result, they will grow faster and resist wilting. Help your palm tree by preparing a homemade fertilizer for it. How should you do it? Just add one ingredient to the water: the banana peel! Not everyone realizes that banana peels are a rich source of valuable minerals and organic compounds. To prepare homemade fertilizer, you will need either one or, at most, two peels. Begin by cutting them up and placing them in a large jar. The next step involves covering the peels with warm water. After about two days, the solution should be diluted at a 1:1 ratio with water and used regularly to water your palm tree.
