Lacklustre dishes are a problem for many people. Before considering replacing the dishwasher, it’s worth checking if you’re doing everything correctly. Proper arrangement of plates and glasses and the cleanliness of the appliance are extremely important in this regard. Sometimes, however, that’s not enough. We suggest what you can do to restore the shine to your dishes. It’s simpler than it seems.

Why do glasses become cloudy?

Dishwasher users often struggle with unsightly marks left after washing. Glasses that were supposed to be perfectly clean may look like they’re covered in a haze. This is mainly due to mineral deposits present in hard water and detergent residues.

Not everyone knows that the programme you use also matters significantly in this case. The higher the washing temperature, the more likely the glasses will become faded.

It’s essential to check whether the dishes are dishwasher-safe. This relates to the type of glass used in their production. If the manufacturer warns against cleaning them this way, it’s not worth the risk.

How to restore shine to faded dishes?

Over time, most of us may deal with faded dishes. Fortunately, there’s a simple way to fix this. All you need is vinegar to soak the glasses and plates in. It turns out that it acts as a kind of natural brightener.

After about a 20-minute soak, hand wash the dishes with a gentle sponge and dish soap, and then polish them with a cloth.

It turns out that aluminium foil can also be quite helpful. Just form a small ball and place it in the dishwasher during washing.
