Vladimir Putin has become known for often speaking in a way that seems detached from reality. In his recent speech, he claimed that his country is fighting for its independence and survival because it was attacked.

Russian propaganda plays a significant role in how President Vladimir Putin leads the country. The elderly, who have limited access to reliable information, are particularly susceptible and tend to believe every word.

In one of his recent speeches, Putin convinced his audience that it was Ukraine that launched an attack on Russia in 2022, asserting that his country is merely defending itself against this aggression.

As we know, our country is battling for its crucial interests and the right to independent and sovereign progress. Unfortunately, our adversaries have compelled us to defend these interests by force. We are confronting those who have been prepared to combat Russia on the territory of a neighbouring state—said Vladimir Putin.

The Russian economy is not as dire as Moscow's most vehement critics claim, nor as robust as Kremlin propaganda suggests. Despite this, Vladimir Putin continually urges the nation to comply with all the rules and guidelines issued by the authorities.

Everything we undertake in our lives must contribute to Russia's success. Under no circumstances must we allow any laxity. We must motivate all citizens to rigorously adhere to all the norms and guidelines—adds the Russian leader.

Unfavourable news for the people of Russia

According to analysts cited by Reuters, Vladimir Putin's regime may fail to meet its budget revenue targets for 2024. As a consequence, it could be forced to raise taxes on business activities to fund armaments and the war in Ukraine.
