Putin's cautious silence as Trump takes the top seat
- We are unaware of any Putin plans to congratulate Trump on his win, said his press secretary Dmitry Peskov. "Let's not forget that we are talking about an unfriendly country that is directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state," he stated.

Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or state representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.
Peskov said that elections in the US are an internal matter of that country. "It is almost impossible to worsen them further, relations are at their historically lowest point. What happens next will depend on the next U.S. leadership," he added.
The Kremlin denied having anything to do with interference in the US elections. On Tuesday, the FBI reported that false bomb threats directed to polling stations were recorded in four key states for the election outcome, and many of them were apparently sent from Russian email domains.
Peskov also stated that "President Putin has repeatedly said that he is open to constructive dialogue based on fairness and equality, and a willingness to take each other's concerns into account." The dictator's spokesman also mentioned the possibility of a phone call with Trump.
"The Kremlin will draw conclusions about Trump's presidency based on his first statements in the Russian context and specific steps. The Russian Federation will be judged based on American authorities' actions, and any possible discussions on plans to end the war in Ukraine are inappropriate," Peskov continued.
He stated that "Putin remains ready for constructive dialogue with the United States, but Washington is otherwise inclined." "Whether this will change will be seen in January," Peskov added.
"The United States can help resolve the conflict in Ukraine, but whether this will happen will be seen after January," the Kremlin’s spokesperson added.
