Many of the reports from Russian media or authorities are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Putin, the leader of Russia, said in an interview with Russian state television that the war in Ukraine will end "within a month" if Kyiv does not receive military support from Western allies. "They will not exist for a month if the money and, in a broad sense, the bullets run out. Everything would be over in a month and a half or two," Putin stated.

Putin's comment refers to Kyiv's concerns about the decision of US President Donald Trump, who suspended all American foreign aid programmes for 90 days. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the freeze of nearly all foreign aid programmes for at least 90 days. However, on 25 January, the President of Ukraine announced that the US had not suspended military aid to his country.

Willingness to negotiate

Putin expressed a willingness to negotiate to end the war in Ukraine but noted that he does not see willingness from Kyiv to engage in "legal" talks without the involvement of Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Putin, the President of Ukraine holds his office illegitimately. "But essentially, if they want to proceed, there is a legal way to do it. Let the chairman of the Rada (Ukraine's parliament) handle it in accordance with the constitution. If there is a desire, we can resolve any legal issues. However, so far, we simply do not see such a desire," Putin said, as quoted by the AFP agency.

Putin also emphasised that Russia should become one of the world’s technological leaders in the field of unmanned aerial systems by 2030. Russian president stated that it would be necessary to create a solid industry, infrastructure, and drone service system on a national technological and production platform, both domestically and abroad, for this purpose. He explained that this sector was expected to become one of the key areas of technological development in Russia. Putin added that Russia has all the necessary resources and potential to achieve this goal.
