Following the coronation of Charles III as King of the United Kingdom, his eldest son William was officially named the next heir to the throne. William also gained a new title – Duke of Cornwall.
The new title comes with responsibilities. This includes managing the Duchy of Cornwall. This private estate encompasses approximately 52,450 hectares of land in 20 counties, mainly in southwestern England. The estate is managed by Prince William and His Majesty's Treasury.
Recently, British media have focused on the Duchy of Cornwall's annual report, which reveals the wealth of 42-year-old William.
Prince William's wealth
The owner of the Duchy of Cornwall estate is William. This makes him a billionaire, as the value of Cornwall is estimated at one billion pounds, which is over 6 billion dollars.
British media reported that the British heir to the throne had earned an absolute fortune in the last tax year. That's 23.6 million pounds, or about 28 million dollars. This sum is intended to cover the charitable and private expenses of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children.
According to the report, Prince William is working on increasing the estate's income while maintaining its value. The Royal Family hopes to achieve a net-zero balance by the year 2032 and also to " help tackle homelessness" in Cornwall through related charitable organisations.
However, Prince William has more significant concerns than earnings and tax filings. Two of the closest people to him are ill. His wife, Duchess Kate, announced in March that she is battling cancer. A month earlier, news spread from Buckingham Palace that King Charles III was also suffering from cancer.
