Prada's high-fashion space suit poised to redefine moon mission

In 2026, humanity will once again embark on a journey to the Moon. A vital component of this mission will be an innovative space suit designed by the Italian fashion house Prada. This unique suit will protect astronauts during the planned Artemis III mission, which forms part of a comprehensive space exploration programme organised by NASA.

Prada, a global fashion powerhouse renowned for its luxury clothing collections, is now concentrating on functionality, merging its distinctive design approach with advanced technology. The collaboration with Axiom Space, an American company specialising in space technology, aims to create a suit capable of withstanding the harsh conditions on the Moon's surface.

Innovative technology protecting against dust and temperature

The space suit designed by Prada reflects heat and, crucially, protects astronauts from extreme temperatures and hazardous lunar dust, one of the most significant threats to lunar missions.

This dust, which is extremely fine and possesses sharp edges, can damage equipment and pose risks to the astronauts' health. The Prada design addresses these challenges, offering solutions that will enable astronauts to have extended stays in space.

Prada has designed a spacesuit for the moon landing planned for 2026. The suit is designed for NASA's Artemis III mission. It will reflect heat and protect astronauts from high temperatures and lunar dust. The spacesuit will allow astronauts to stay in outer space for 8 hours, as reported by Nexta on platform X.

Preparations for the Artemis III mission

The Artemis III mission, which aims to return humans to the Moon's surface after more than 50 years, will be historic. This time, NASA plans to land in the lunar south pole region, intending to acquire valuable information about the resources and conditions there. Modern equipment will be a crucial element of this endeavour, and Prada's innovative suit will play a significant role in it.
