Pope Francis, who is dealing with bronchitis, is not relinquishing his duties. The Vatican announced that he will receive guests at audiences at the Domus Sanctae Marthae, where he resides, on Friday and Saturday.

This information was shared on Thursday, a day after the Pope mentioned having a "severe cold."

Pope Francis' health in the spotlight

Pope Francis, who regularly struggles with various ailments, was recently unable to read the prepared meditation during an audience. As Vatican News reports, at the beginning of this meeting he admitted he had a cold and asked for assistance. The Pope commented on his condition by saying that "with this severe cold it is difficult for me to speak."

Since the beginning of the year, Francis has been facing various health challenges. In late February, a brief statement from the Vatican reported that he had developed a "mild flu," which led to the cancellation of scheduled audiences. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Pope suffers from respiratory infections, and each subsequent illness raises more concern.

The Pope does not give up on his duties

The Vatican confirmed to journalists that the Pope has been suffering from bronchitis for several days. Despite this, the 88-year-old Francis does not intend to cancel his scheduled meetings. During the Wednesday general audience, due to feeling unwell, he refrained from reading the catechesis, entrusting the task to his collaborators.

Jubilee of the Armed Forces, Police, and Security Services

Despite the illness, the Pope plans to lead a mass at St. Peter's Square on Sunday. This event is part of the Jubilee of the Armed Forces, Police, and Security Services, taking place as part of the Holy Year. Representatives of these formations and their superiors from around the world will attend the ceremony.

Since the beginning of the Holy Year, the number of the Pope's meetings and audiences for various groups has significantly increased. The Vatican emphasises that despite the illness, Francis aims not to neglect his duties.
