Pope Francis once again spoke out about the ongoing wars in the world. After many controversial opinions on the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, the head of the Church commented this time on the deterrence policy. According to Francis, it is another deceit and failure.

On Saturday, May 11, Pope Francis participated along with the faithful in the Global Meeting on Human Fraternity. The conversation organized in the Vatican was an opportunity to discuss the topic of world peace and the ongoing arms race between the West and the East. For this reason, the topic of wars was also unavoidable.

War is a defeat" and "a deception", as is the idea of international security based on the deterrent of fear - said Pope Francis during the meeting with the faithful.

This is how, according to the Pope, peace can be ensured in the world

At the same time, the head of the Catholic Church assured that "to guarantee lasting peace we need to return to recognizing ourselves in common humanity and placing fraternity at the centre of the life of peoples". This idea was the guiding theme of Saturday's meeting in the Vatican. At the same time, the Pope encouraged those gathered to create institutions caring for dialogue in the world.

Only in this way will we be able to develop a model of coexistence capable of giving a future to the human family. Political peace needs peace of hearts, so that people meet in the trust that life always wins over every form of death - stated Pope Francis.

There were also specific proposals among the many conclusions of Saturday's Global Meeting on Human Fraternity. Among them was, among others, the creation of a Charter of Man or a Charter of Humanity. But for this to happen, many people, often behind the scenes, must work persistently for peace in the world.
