Polish Warmate munition scores successful strike on Russian radar in Ukraine

This is not the first time a Warmate has been showcased in action. The Polish weapon's impressive effectiveness has previously been demonstrated, aiding Ukrainians in eliminating much enemy equipment and personnel from Putin's army. Earlier, videos were published showing successful Warmate strikes on Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft defense systems, Tor anti-aircraft systems, and buildings harboring Russian forces. This time, the Ukrainians took out a smaller yet significant target.

The Kasta-2E2 is now out of play in the war. It is a medium-range observation radar that can detect targets at a distance of up to 150 kilometers (rounded from 93 miles) and an altitude of up to 6.4 kilometers (rounded from 4 miles). Despite being mobile, its performance isn't solid, leading the Russians to use it frequently at stationary radio-technical posts.

In the video, the Ukrainians first hit the radar antenna with a Warmate, then completed the destruction with a second strike from another drone dropping explosive payloads.

What can the Polish Warmate do?

WB Electronics produces the Warmate. The weapon is classified as a loitering munition, but it's also often called a kamikaze drone. Each unit of this design weighs around 5.3 kilograms (rounded from 11.7 lbs), has a wingspan of 1.4 meters (rounded from 4.6 feet), and is 1.1 meters long (rounded from 3.6 feet).

The Warmate is highly versatile as it can undertake reconnaissance or combat missions, depending on the warhead used - fragmentation or cumulative warheads are available (packed with around 300 grams of TNT). It also can operate in a swarm. The drone can stay airborne for up to 60 minutes and boasts a range of up to 40 kilometres (rounded from 25 miles). It operates at 80 km/h (converted from 50 mph), and can accelerate to an attack speed of nearly 150 km/h (rounded from 93 mph).
