During a rally in South Carolina, Donald Trump referenced an alleged conversation with "one of the NATO state leaders", who reportedly asked him if the USA would support them in case of a Russian invasion when his country does not allocate 2% of their GDP to defence.

- I replied: no, I would not protect you. I would actually encourage them (the Russians - editor), to do what they want with you - Trump said.

Kosiniak-Kamysz: No campaign is ever an excuse

This issue has sparked widespread outrage. Prime Minister Donald Tusk suggested that the issue be discussed even at the Cabinet Council. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz also responded to Trump's comment.

"The NATO motto: 'One for all, all for one' is a specific commitment. Undermining the credibility of allied states implies weakening the entire North Atlantic Pact" - wrote the deputy prime minister on platform X.

The National Defense Minister emphasized that "no election campaign is an excuse for playing with the security of the Alliance".
