Queen Sonja of Norway was admitted to the hospital, as the Norwegian royal family confirmed. According to the NTB agency, the 87-year-old experienced atrial fibrillation while skiing. Despite initial concerns, the palace has assured that the queen's condition is not serious.

Queen Sonja was discharged from the hospital in Lillehammer once her heart rhythm returned to normal. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre expressed his support, wishing the queen a speedy recovery and future mountain trips.

I wish the queen a speedy recovery and hope she will soon be ready for new skiing trips - he wrote in a statement.

Because of the situation, the palace had to change the queen's schedule of official appearances.

Unlike her husband, King Harald V, Queen Sonja has enjoyed good health until now. However, in recent years, King Harald V has been hospitalised multiple times, including having heart valve surgery in 2020 and a pacemaker implanted in 2024. Despite these health issues, the king does not intend to abdicate.

The Norwegian royal family, led by King Harald V, is one of the most respected dynasties in Europe and is known for its openness. However, King Harald V, the world's oldest reigning monarch, struggles with health problems. Recently, he was treated in Oslo after a sudden illness, which attracted media attention.
