Nick Pasqual is accused of breaking into the home of Allie Shehorn, his ex-girlfriend and an award-winning Hollywood makeup artist. The drama unfolded on May 23 around 11:30 AM in the victim's house in the Sunland neighbourhood.
The woman was attacked with a knife and had multiple cuts on her neck, arms, and abdomen. According to American media, she was wounded up to 20 times.
Shehorn was critically injured and taken to the hospital, where she was placed in the ICU. Several surgeries were necessary. The attacker fled the scene, but according to the New York Post, he is now in police custody. The actor was apprehended on Wednesday, May 29, at the U.S.-Mexico border at the Sierra Blanca border crossing in Texas.
He is expected to face charges of attempted murder, burglary, and inflicting injuries on his ex-partner. Pasqual will be extradited to Los Angeles County, where he will face the charges. If the actor is found guilty of the alleged crimes, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
Shehorn applied for a restraining order against the actor a few days before the attack, citing concerns for her health and life. Pasqual had attacked her before. During one of these attacks, she suffered a concussion.
Prosecutor speaks of "terrifying incident"
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón commented on Pasqual's arrest. My thoughts and sincerest condolences go out to the victim of this horrifying incident — he emphasized. He added that the prosecution and the Victim Assistance Office provide Shehorn support to help her overcome the traumatic experience and regain full emotional and physical strength.
This shameful incident harshly reminds us of the dangers associated with domestic violence, Gascón added. He also assured that the responsible person would be held accountable.
The makeup artist is slowly recovering. Last Tuesday, she was moved from the intensive care unit. Makeup artist Jed Dornoff emphasized that Allie Shehorn still has a long road ahead, but the first steps have already been taken.
