Nepalese mercenary exposes harsh conditions in Russian army

Vladimir Putin's army consists not only of conscripted Russians but also of mercenaries from Asia. One captured mercenary from Nepal has decided to describe his experience in the Russian army. The man says he was treated like an animal there.

Forty-seven-year-old Ghimire Krishna Chhetri was captured by Ukrainian soldiers near Bakhmut. He had no idea such a city existed before being deployed there. He ended up on the front line because he wanted to pay off debts and had previously worked as a security guard on a construction site in Dubai.

The Nepal mercenary did not expect his "job" to be so dangerous. He attempted to return home, but it proved impossible.

It’s a one-way road. After signing the contract, returning home was extremely difficult. I met other Nepalese there who had similar problems to mine. No one managed to escape from the army, said Ghimire Krishna Chhetri in front of the camera.

The Nepalese man says the Russians "treated him like an animal"

The man points out that the Russians treated him terribly. He had no access to food and could not wash properly.

They treated us like animals. It’s better to stay home with your family. Participating in this war is not a good idea for making money, says the captured mercenary.

The Nepalese man appeals to the residents of India and Nepal not to come to the front. He emphasises that it is very dangerous for their health and life.

It should be noted that in the recording, the mercenary from Nepal seems to be relieved that Ukrainian soldiers captured him. The 47-year-old’s relief is understandable as it might be his only chance to see his family again.
