Natural solutions: Combating grey mould in your tomato garden
Growing your vegetable garden has many benefits. However, some species present quite a challenge. How can you take care of tomatoes exposed to grey mould? A homemade spray with a surprising ingredient is the perfect protection.
Many landowners decide to establish vegetable gardens. Growing your own vegetables and fruits has numerous benefits, although, let’s not hide it, it is time-consuming.
Today, we are focusing on growing tomatoes. How can you care for seedlings so they are not attacked by grey mould? This disease poses a huge challenge for anyone who grows their own tomatoes, even once.
Amazing but it works. Here’s how to prepare a homemade protective spray
Tomatoes should be sprayed with the mixture below before they start blooming. This way, we’ll tackle the problem of fungi and moulds right from the start. All you need is about 7 litres of water and 250 grams of dandelion!
We start by boiling the dandelion leaves in a water-filled pot, which must last an hour. After this time, set the infusion aside to cool. Then, pour the substance into a spray bottle. Spray your seedlings this way to reduce the risk of mould attacks.
Gray mould on the attack? start acting as soon as you notice
When mould attacks ornamental plants, we can immediately use store-bought chemicals. However, choosing a natural remedy for vegetables, shrubs, or fruit trees is safer. What if grey mould has already attacked your tomato seedlings? Here comes a garlic mixture.
First, crush about 100 grams of garlic to release its juice. Then, pour 7 litres of water over it and set everything aside for five days. Stir daily. After the designated time, pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray the affected plants.
Onions have a similar effect. In this case, chop 250 grams of onions and pour just over 4.5 litres of water over them. Bring the mixture to a boil and then cook the vegetables for another 30 minutes. After cooling, spray the plants affected by mould with this mixture.
