Anyone can experience a clogged drain in the bathroom. The reasons can vary, but the most common cause is the build-up of hair residues, soap, or mineral deposits. This accumulation prevents water from flowing freely. The debris can rot in the pipes, resulting in unpleasant odours.

We often notice the problem only when the water doesn't drain from the sink at all. If we don't act promptly, it could lead to an expensive visit from a professional. Therefore, it's worth regularly maintaining drain flow and responding to the first signs of a blockage. You can also use homemade solutions preventively to clear pipes. You can easily prepare one at home yourself.

An effective method for clogged pipes. You only need three products

Judy Gilroy, a home advice expert, shared her reliable trick for clearing clogged drains online. The influencer chose one of the simplest and most effective methods. The necessary ingredients can be found in the kitchen: baking soda, vinegar, and lemon. A clean cloth will also be useful.

What do you need to do? It's very simple. Start by pouring a cup of baking soda down the drain, then add two cups of vinegar. It's important to maintain a 1:2 ratio. The combination of ingredients will trigger a chemical reaction (creating abundant foam) that will help dissolve accumulated organic residues and dirt.

At this point, you should cover the drain with a cloth and let the mixture work for about 15 minutes. After this time, thoroughly rinse the drain with hot water, preferably boiling. Finally, add a bit of lemon juice to the sink. This will release a pleasant scent from the drain. And that's it!

Consistency is key

This natural method is not only effective and efficient but also eco-friendly. We avoid using strong chemicals that can damage pipes or harm the environment. You can perform pipe unclogging with baking soda, vinegar, and lemon preventively once a quarter. Regular use of this solution can help maintain drains in good condition and minimise the risk of clogging in the future.
