Musk relents on email ultimatum with Trump's green light
Elon Musk, who previously threatened to terminate federal employees for not responding to emails, has decided to give them a second chance. The condition is President Donald Trump's approval.
Elon Musk, who recently threatened to sack federal employees for not responding to an email regarding their professional achievements, has changed his stance. On Monday, he announced that these individuals would have another chance to respond, provided they received approval from President Donald Trump.
Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency, had previously warned on Platform X that failure to respond to the email could result in the need to seek new employment. However, several federal agencies, including the FBI and NASA, advised their employees to ignore the messages for security reasons.
According to the Polish Press Agency, influenced by these reactions, Musk has decided to change his approach, and federal employees who did not respond to the email might get another chance if Trump gives his approval.
President Trump's position
According to "Forbes" magazine, Trump supported Musk's plan, calling it "great" and a sign of "genius." The President claimed that many people do not respond to emails because they don’t exist. He also criticised agencies that instructed employees to ignore the messages, arguing that they are sent in a "friendly manner."
"Forbes" reports that over 100 Democratic Party representatives from the House sent a letter to the heads of federal agencies, urging them to clarify that employees are not obligated to respond to this initiative. The "New York Times" reported that Trump continued suggesting the possibility of redundancies for those who do not respond to the email.
Musk's decision and the reactions to it demonstrate the complexity of relationships between the administration and federal employees, especially in the context of information security.
