Alvaro Morata stirred up a storm with his interview for "El Mundo", suggesting he would be happier playing outside Spain. He faced a massive wave of hate, which also ricocheted onto his family. The footballer's wife, Alice Campello-Morata, defended her husband.

Everything began with an interview that Alvaro Morata gave on Cuatro radio. He openly stated that Euro 2024 could be his last tournament with the national team. The situation heated up as he confirmed these words for the aforementioned "El Mundo". He then added the reason for his consideration to end his international career.

It's a possibility that I don't want to talk about too much, but it's probable (...) Without doubt [I'm happier outside of Spain]. I've said it many times. Above all, because people respect me. In Spain there's no respect for anything or anyone - stated the Spanish national team forward.

Following these words, an article targeting Alvaro Morata appeared in the "El Confidencial" newspaper. Journalists titled it: "Morata, the captain who shames Spain and not just because of a poor performance at the European Championships". This headline prompted a reaction from the Spaniard's wife, Alice Campello-Morata.

Alice Campello-Morata posted two long entries on InstaStories, in which she hit back at journalists while defending her beloved. She pointed out, among other things, that the article from the aforementioned newspaper appeared the day before the Euro 2024 semi-final match in which Spain will face France.

I hate playing the victim and causing more controversy, but this doesn't seem halfway normal to me, sorry. Is this normal? The only thing I consider poor is being a journalist with a degree and writing such headlines when Spain is one day away from playing in the semi-final. I am surprised that instead of supporting the player, you dedicate yourselves to trying to destroy him. How do you think a person can give their best for their country when they feel that people don't believe in them? What do you want to achieve with this headline? To cause more hatred towards that person? Congratulations, anyone can write their opinion, and anyone can express it, and no one ever likes everyone, but there are ways and ways of saying things, especially when you are from a newspaper and have such great power to influence young people. Is this what we really want? - wrote the model.

She didn't stop there. She pointed out that such publications directly affect the player and his whole family. She appealed to people to express their opinions sensibly without insulting individuals.

These players have a father, mother, wife and children who read these baseless barbarisms. This one in the newspaper is just an example. We need to think before we start talking about how we would feel with what we do. I repeat: anyone can say what they think, but without insulting. There's no arguing about tastes, but we must respect if we want respect - we read.
