Meta's Messenger evolves with HD calls and AI integration
Meta updates the Messenger app. Among the new features are HD-quality video calls, and artificial intelligence will play a larger role. Here are the details of the latest update.
Messenger is evolving right before our eyes. The next update introduces a series of enhancements. Meta acknowledges the potential of artificial intelligence while simultaneously upgrading video calls. The list of new features is extensive – here’s what Messenger users can anticipate in the enhanced version of the app.
Messenger update: What's new?
Messenger users can now enjoy HD video during calls alongside sound isolation features that minimise background noise, improving overall conversation quality. These new options can be activated in the call settings. HD calls will be enabled by default when connected to Wi-Fi, and this option will be available for selection for mobile networks.
That’s not all. Messenger will also allow you to leave a voice or video message when the recipient is unavailable, functioning as a digital voicemail. In a missed call, you can press the "Record Message" button to send an audio or video recording.
Messenger and artificial intelligence
Additionally, on iOS devices, Messenger will be integrated with Siri. Users can ask the voice assistant to send a message or make a call, thus making communication more efficient and saving effort.
Meta will soon introduce AI-generated backgrounds for video calls. To use them, tap the "Effects" icon in the sidebar during a call and select the "Backgrounds" option.
