Company unveils road-going racer: New model debuts
Maserati has crafted a road-going racer based on the GT2 track version derived from the road-going MC20. Complicated? Slightly. Nonetheless, one must admire the car's impressiveness.
Looking at the photos, it's easy to see that the GT2 Stradale closely resembles the GT2 racer rather than the road-going MC20. It seems the car has been taken straight off the track. The large air intakes, extensive add-ons, and substantial rear spoiler suggest that aerodynamics were a priority here. Most of the elements are, of course, made of carbon fibre.
The interior presents a slightly more refined impression, blending elements from both worlds. There's plenty of carbon and Alcantara, and the seats are practically identical to those in the GT2. On the other hand, the steering wheel resembles that of the MC20, although it is thicker. The audio system and multimedia with a 10.25-inch screen also emphasise the road-going nature. So, what do we find under the bonnet?
Of course, the 3-litre V6 Nettuno, which in this version produces 635 HP. Combined with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, this results in excellent performance. Sprinting to 60 takes 2.8 seconds, and the top speed exceeds 200 mph. It’s the fastest road-going Maserati you can buy.
It's not the fastest on straights, as the car uses the same suspension as the racing GT2. You can be sure it performs admirably in sharp corners. The aforementioned aerodynamics also play their part, providing up to 500 kilograms of downforce.
How many units the GT2 Stradale Maserati Maserati intends to produce or the price is unknown. However, regardless of the numbers, demand will outstrip supply.
