Mark Wahlberg takes flight as rogue pilot in Gibson's thriller
Mark Wahlberg played the lead role in the film "Flight Risk", directed by Mel Gibson. The 53-year-old actor will portray the character of a psychopathic pilot, Daryl Booth. He has admitted that he had been waiting for such an offer for a long time.
The film "Flight Risk" is the first thriller directed by Mel Gibson. It follows an agent (Michelle Dockery) who escorts a witness involved in a mafia trial (Topher Grace), travelling in a small plane over the Alaskan mountains.
With a small crew on board, comprising Agent Harris, the handcuffed witness, and the pilot (Mark Wahlberg), the flight was intended to be the simplest way to bring the witness to court.
Everything seems to proceed as planned until an unexpected event over the icy terrain. It becomes evident that not everyone in the cabin is who they claim to be. It quickly emerges that the mafia boss's influence extends even here, at altitude.

A dramatic struggle for control of the plane unfolds. In this perilous situation, only one member of the expedition can competently pilot the aircraft. Adding to the urgency, fighter jets are on high alert, prepared to shoot down the plane if Harris does not regain control in time. The aircraft flies into storm clouds, further intensifying the action.
According to statements attributed to him by the "Monolith" agency, Mel Gibson openly shared that the script had a profound impact on him. He described it as terrifying and occasionally shocking yet skillfully balanced with dark humour.
Mark Wahlberg took on a similar role nearly three decades ago in the film Fear. The actor reportedly expressed enthusiasm for being part of this director's project, stating that he was captivated by the script and hadn't portrayed a villain like this since Fear in 1996, marking a nearly thirty-year gap.
The premiere of the film "Flight Risk" is scheduled for 31 January 2025.
