Such small gestures can foster friendly relations among the world's most prominent figures. Emmanuel Macron, during their visit to Col du Tourmalet, gifted his distinguished guest from China this interesting item.

The choice of location for such a gift was particularly apt. The Col du Tourmalet pass is iconic to the Tour de France, having been part of its route multiple times, first in 1910.

"Through the sharing of our personal stories, our relationship is gradually building up. It is a great pleasure to receive you, President Xi Jinping, on Tourmalet pass in the Pyrenees, a place that means as much to me as when you hosted me in Guangzhou," - Emmanuel Macron wrote in Chinese on Twitter for the occasion.

It should also be mentioned that President Macron and his wife were welcomed to China by President Jinping before this event.

The Tour de France will commence on June 29, 2024, and conclude on July 21, marking the 111th edition of this iconic race.

In an unprecedented move, the finish line will be in Nice instead of the Champs-Elysées in Paris. This change is tied to the preparations for the Olympic Games, which are set to begin in Paris on July 26.
