Lukashenko denies Belarus as launchpad for Russian aggression
- No, Russia intends to attack neither Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, nor Ukraine through the territory of Belarus, - stated Alexander Lukashenko during a fair in Belarusian Mosty.
Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.
According to the Belarusian leader, such accusations are unfounded. – That's complete nonsense – said Lukashenko, referring to the accusations of a possible threat arising from his country. He emphasised that Belarus does not intend to conflict with neighbouring countries.
– No one in Belarus intends to fight neighbours or NATO without our knowledge. They aimed to strangle us and Russia, and today, in pursuit of this goal, they are looking for a pretext – he added, alluding to the speculation that a potential attack from the territory of Belarus could also be carried out by Russia.
According to him "everything is simple, and they want to accuse us of something".
The situation on the border with Belarus
The politician also addressed the issue of illegal migration, pointing out the hypocrisy of Western sanctions. – They imposed sanctions against us, and we are supposed to defend them? It won't be like that; we have been honest about it. Lukashenko noted that Belarus has no intention of respecting European interests amid the current tensions at the border.
During the event, Lukashenko compared Mosty to Paris, claiming that Belarusian authorities are building real bridges, both literally and figuratively. – Mosty is more attractive than Paris – he summarised curiously.
Ukrainian media points out the inconsistency in Lukashenko's statements. They recall his earlier assurances of Belarus' neutrality just before the Russian aggression (including from Belarusian territory). At that time, he also assured there would be no attacks from Belarus.
