The American travel agency Florida Panhandle analysed opinions from no fewer than 2.4 million tourists. They selected the beach with the most transparent water in the world based on their findings. A true paradise is located in Europe.

According to the rankings by Florida Panhandle, the winner's title went to Prassa Beach on Kimolos, part of the Cyclades archipelago, as reported by the Greek Reporter portal.

The clearest water

As reported by the Greek media, the beach with the most transparent water in the world is located on the Greek island of Kimolos in the Aegean Sea. The American company conducting the study revealed that most of the beaches rated highest by tourists for water clarity are in Greece.

The distinguished Prassa Beach is on the northeastern part of the island, populated by less than a thousand people. The whole island covers an area of just about 36 square kilometres. Like most regions of Greece, Kimolos was a poor agricultural island for years. This changed thanks to tourists who began visiting the island in the early 1990s, becoming a source of income for the local population. Guests are attracted, of course, by the paradise beaches with crystal clear water and the relaxing and authentic Greek climate, which is increasingly difficult to find on some islands trampled by travellers.

Other beautiful beaches on the island include Aliki Beach, Mavrospilia, Bonatsa, and Agios Georgios.

Tourism in Greece

Greece is becoming more popular year by year, and the statistics confirm this. In 2023, over 36 million tourists visited the country, a 20.8 percent increase from the previous year. Attica was the most visited region, but tourists spent the most money in the South Aegean Islands region, which also had the most accommodations booked.
