Kamala Harris secures democratic nomination with Beyoncé boost
Everything indicates that Kamala Harris is about to receive the official nomination as the Democratic candidate in the US presidential election. The current Vice President has already raised £62 million for her campaign, but she has also made a special request to Beyoncé.
A few days ago, a poll was conducted among Democrats, showing that the vast majority want Kamala Harris to represent them in the presidential election. 2,579 Democratic delegates have declared their support for the Vice President, and 1,976 are sufficient for the nomination.
Her nomination could be confirmed and officially announced after a virtual vote, which will take place on August 7 or during the Democratic convention, which is scheduled from August 19 to August 22.
Public support for Kamala Harris has been expressed by former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. During the first meeting of Kamala Harris's team, the song "Freedom" by Beyoncé could be heard, which includes the line: "I'ma keep running. Cause a winner don't quit on themselves". It is clear that this was a purely political tactic.
Kamala Harris made a request to Beyoncé
According to American media, Kamala Harris is said to have asked the artist for permission to use this song during her presidential campaign. This is not the first time the Vice President has used it; the song was used in her first election campaign.
Although Beyoncé has not joined the ranks of those publicly supporting Kamala Harris in the election, her mother, Tina Knowles, has done so. She posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: "Go Vice President Kamala Harris for President!".
If Kamala Harris ultimately receives the nomination, she will compete for the presidency with the former head of the United States, Donald Trump.
