Israel on high alert as Iranian retaliation looms
Israel is preparing for a potential retaliation from Iran, which could take place within the next few hours. Some citizens have been called up for military service. There have been intense clashes at recruitment centres, with videos circulating online.
Israel is bracing for Iranian retaliation. Last week, following two Israeli assaults in Beirut and Tehran, Hezbollah’s military leader Fuad Shukr and Hamas’s political leader Ismail Haniyeh were killed.
Israeli Defence Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said that Israel is ready for the threat. Citizens are being kept informed about the situation as it develops.
Some citizens have received military call-ups. Orthodox Jews are among those called up. Middle East expert Wojciech Szewko shared a video from one of the recruitment centres, showing chaotic scenes as demonstrations escalated into physical clashes.
Will Iran attack Israel? Date specified
According to the American portal Axios, the retaliation from Iran could happen as soon as Monday (5th April). This information was reportedly conveyed by Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, during a meeting with the foreign ministers of G7 countries. He said the Iranian response should be expected between 5th and 6th April. Earlier, Sky News Arabia reported, citing Western intelligence sources, that the attack might occur on 12th-13th August.
Let us recall that this April, tensions between Israel and Iran had already escalated. Israel reportedly attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of seven members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps. In response to this attack, Iran carried out the largest drone raid in history on Israel. The vast majority of the drones were shot down. Aircraft belonging to the United States and Jordan, among others, participated in the defence of Israel. Many indications suggest that a similar retaliation attempt may occur.
