Hungary cancels foreign ministers' meeting after Orban's Moscow trip

According to information provided by Reuters, German authorities claim that Hungary has decided to cancel the meeting of foreign ministers of both countries scheduled for following Monday.

The meeting was supposed to take place in Budapest, the Hungarian capital. On Friday, an official from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed information about the cancellation of the meeting.

German foreign ministry "astonished"

The German Foreign Ministry stated that it is "astonished" by this situation. As reported by Reuters, the German authorities emphasised that after the meeting between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian President Vladimir Putin, a "serious and sincere" discussion is necessary. This meeting took place on Friday in Moscow.

Scholz sharply criticises Orban's visit to Moscow

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz mentioned Orban's trip to Russia during a press conference on Friday in Berlin.

According to the portal Tagesschau, Scholz stated that the Hungarian Prime Minister's visit to Moscow will not affect European support for Ukraine. However, he added that the political will to support Ukraine is not always the same in all countries.
