Houston to New York flight aborts as engine bursts into flames
Passengers on a flight from Houston to New York (USA) experienced a frightening ordeal when it became apparent that one of the engines had ceased to function properly. A video, captured by one of the passengers, circulated online showing flames emanating from the engine positioned under the wing.
The alarming incident occurred on Sunday, February 2, at around 2:00 GMT, during preparations for a flight departing from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas. The flight was scheduled to travel to New York.
The take-off of the Airbus A320 was subsequently aborted. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) later confirmed that engine problems were to blame. Disturbing footage that emerged online vividly depicted the event.

A passenger managed to film the flames under the engine, and this footage was broadcast on FOX 26 Houston’s channel. Other passengers on board were understandably terrified, as cries of "Please, get us out!" and "Oh my God!" could be heard in the background of the recording.
Fortunately, the situation concluded safely. The FAA announced that the plane had been successfully evacuated, with all passengers disembarking onto the runway and being transported by bus to the terminal. Firefighters played a key role in the operation.
At the time of the incident, the aircraft had 104 passengers and five crew members on board. Thankfully, no one was injured, and a replacement aircraft took off at 18:30, bound for LaGuardia Airport in New York. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
