Hezbollah's village fortresses: Israel launches targeted strikes

Hezbollah has turned villages in southern Lebanon into military operational points intended to serve as bases for an attack on northern Israel, modeled after Hamas' actions on 7th October 2023, stated Israeli Defence Forces spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Harar.

The Israeli Army has issued a communiqué regarding a planned attack in the north of the country.

The Israeli army began "limited and targeted" ground operations against Hezbollah terrorist targets in southern Lebanon overnight from Monday to Tuesday, the Israeli armed forces reported, announcing they would destroy Hezbollah's military infrastructure in villages near the border.

Israel: Hezbollah planned a massacre in the north

"Hezbollah prepared to use these villages as staging points for an invasion modeled on 7th October," stated the Israeli armed forces in a Tuesday announcement.

According to the official communiqué, Hezbollah planned a "massacre of innocent men, women, and children."

Rear Admiral Harar emphasized that Israel will not allow a repeat of the events of 7th October at any of its borders.

"We will not allow it," he stated in the published recording. "If the Lebanese state and the world are not able to remove the terrorist Hezbollah from our borders, we have no choice; we must do it ourselves," he added.

He recalled UN Security Council Resolution 1701 from 2006, which aimed to withdraw all armed forces from southern Lebanon other than the Lebanese army and UN peacekeeping forces. Despite this, as the Israeli military spokesperson noted, 18 years later, Hezbollah remains the strongest non-state army in the world, and southern Lebanon is full of their terrorists and weapons.
