Gusty winds topple Christmas tree in Brazil, killing one
One person has died, and two others are injured following an incident in the city of Marica, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, eastern Brazil. A Christmas decoration resembling a Christmas tree, set up on the shore of the Aracatiba lagoon, toppled over.
On Monday in Marica, Rio de Janeiro, a tragic accident occurred. During the installation of a Christmas decoration resembling a tree, a strong gust of wind overturned the structure, resulting in the death of one worker from the company responsible for the decoration.
Two other men involved in the installation were injured and taken to the hospital. Their lives are not in danger.
According to the police investigation, the direct cause of the tragedy was a strong gust of wind during the assembly of the tree structure, which was approximately 56 metres tall. The decoration was to be unveiled during a festive Christmas concert on Tuesday evening.
