Google aims to standardize the operation of tab groups across the Google Chrome browser. According to MSPowerUser, the tech giant is enabling the synchronization of tab groups between its mobile and desktop browsers.

Leopeva64 revealed on Twitter that an updated approach to tab grouping is expected to arrive soon on the Google Chrome Canary version for Android devices. This update is poised to bring the mobile browsing experience more in line with desktop Chrome users.

This update means that Chrome users on mobile devices can likely organize related tabs into groups, which can be colour-coded for easy identification. On the desktop version of Chrome, users can collapse and expand these groups or save them for later. It is anticipated that the mobile version will similarly address group management.

In January 2024, Google unveiled yet another feature designed to enhance tab management within the browser. Included in a set of experimental features, marked as version M121, is the Tab Organizer. This tool is enhanced with artificial intelligence to suggest and automatically create tab groups based on the types of pages currently open on the device.
