Fans loved the golden bikini in which Princess Leia appeared in the movie. Actress Carrie Fisher hated that outfit. It is again up for auction today and worth tens of thousands of pounds.

In "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi," there is that famous scene where Leia ends up in Jabba's palace as a slave. She is chained with a long chain and is wearing a gold metal bikini. The outfit became iconic. Many female fans of "Star Wars" dressed up in this outfit at countless "Star Wars" conventions. The original had already been auctioned years ago. Now, it is up for sale again, along with other valuable items from Hollywood productions.

The golden bikini returns

The golden costume is up for auction in Dallas. Heritage Auctions is handling the sale. Leia's outfit from "Return of the Jedi" can be added to your collection for about £24,000, according to the "Daily Mail". The same auction house is also auctioning Thor's hammer from "Thor: The Dark World" from 2013 for approximately £13,000, or Pedro Pascal's helmet from the series "The Mandalorian" for over £15,000.

Let's recall that Leia's bikini had already been in someone's private collection. It was put up for sale in 2015, and there was a lot of talk about it. The buyer, whose identity was not revealed at the time, bought the costume for around £75,000!

The story of the golden bikini does not end. Remember that when Carrie Fisher appeared on the set of "Star Wars," she was only 19 years old. She was insecure but knew participating in the movies would bring her enormous recognition. She felt isolated on set and recorded her thoughts. Years later, she revisited the tapes and turned them into a book - "The Princess Diarist". One of the situations she recalls is filming the scene with the golden bikini and being enslaved by Jabba.

"Where am I in all of this?" ... I have to stay with the slug with the big tongue! Nearly naked, which is not a style choice for me. ... It wasn't my choice. When [director George Lucas] showed me the outfit, I thought he was kidding and it made me very nervous. I had to sit very straight because I couldn't have lines on my sides, like little creases. No creases were allowed, so I had to sit very, very rigid straight," she wrote. "What redeems it is I get to kill him (Jabba), which was so enjoyable. ... I sawed his neck off with that chain that I killed him with. I really relished that because I hated wearing that outfit and sitting there rigid straight, and I couldn't wait to kill him" - she admitted.

Fisher often said in interviews that the outfit made her uncomfortable. When Daisy Ridley entered the world of "Star Wars," Fisher told the younger actress in a joint interview for "Interview" magazine: "Don’t be a slave like I was. You keep fighting against that slave outfit."
