Many McDonald's restaurants around the world, including in Poland, were closed on Friday due to a computer system failure. "We apologize to our guests for the inconvenience caused by this situation and thank them for their patience," stated McDonald's in a communication to Business Insider Poland.

According to reports from Swedish media, many McDonald’s restaurants globally faced closures on Friday because of a computer system malfunction. Technical issues were noted in several countries, including Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, and China.

The technical glitch also affected outlets in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China.

The McDonald’s Poland press office reported that local restaurants were also temporarily shut down due to a technological glitch. However, all restaurants have now resumed operations.

"The problem was not related to cybersecurity but resulted from a change in software configuration by an external provider. We are actively collaborating with the countries still facing issues," Business Insider Poland was informed, citing a portion of the statement.

There are over 40,000 McDonald's restaurants worldwide.
